The Peruvian chapter of IPMS, "Plastimodelismo de Arequipa" or IPMS Arequipa was
founded in 1991 by an enthusiastic group of modelers with the mission and vision of
cultivating and promoting this form of art. The active members of this chapter create a
diversity of modeling subjects, with a strong emphasis in scratch building. The
members meet monthly at different members residences to share information, novelties,
plan activities, show their recently completed models and those in process, and have
competitions in friendly environment.

This group has done a variety of activities like annual expositions, and shows. The
group has participated in the IPMS-USA Nationals in Virginia Beach in 1996 and the
2004 National Contest held by the Lima's Static Modeling Association and the first
International Expo-Contest held in La Paz, Bolivia in 2006.
